Civilization Series

In the early 90's I began working entirely with xerographic collage. My choices of source material were mostly intuitive, as were my choices in composition. Then, while exploring this new medium, I noticed recurring themes that eventually grew into a body of work which I call the Civilization series. The pieces range in scope from the spiritual to the scientific to the political and cover subjects such as war, crime and the relationship between individuals and society. The basic philosophical idea which underlies all these works is the denial of a distinction between the natural and man-made worlds. Because Humans are a product of nature, our lives, our inventions and even our civilizations are all natural phenomena. Everything is interconnected.
